Delhi is a city where history, spirituality, architecture and culture come together. On 11 August 2026, the Government of Delhi launched four new Spiritual and Heritage Tourism Circuits at the Spiritual and Heritage Tourism Conclave 2026 at Akshardham. The initiative aims to showcase Delhi as a tourism destination in its own right and encourage visitors to explore the capital beyond its most famous monuments. The four circuits connect important religious, spiritual, cultural and historical places across Delhi. Each route offers visitors a different way to understand the character of the city.
A New Way to Explore Delhi
The Delhi Government has launched four new Spiritual and Heritage Tourism Circuits, connecting religious, historic and cultural landmarks across the capital to create a more complete Delhi experience.
I was honoured to guide the inaugural batch of tourists on Circuit 1 – “The Soul of Delhi,” giving guests an opportunity to experience Delhi’s spiritual diversity, living traditions and heritage through one thoughtfully planned journey.
Why These Circuits Are Important
Delhi is often the first stop for international visitors travelling to India, particularly those continuing to Agra and Jaipur as part of the Golden Triangle. But Delhi deserves to be more than a transit point. The city has centuries of history and an extraordinary variety of religious and cultural traditions. These new circuits encourage travellers to stay longer, explore more and experience a different side of Delhi. For international visitors especially, the circuits offer an accessible introduction to India’s religious diversity, architecture, history and living culture.

My Experience Guiding the Inaugural Tourist Batch
Guiding the first group on this new Delhi tourism circuit was a memorable experience. Each stop provided a different story, architectural style and spiritual atmosphere. My role was to help guests understand the history, traditions and cultural importance of every place in a simple and engaging way.
For international visitors, these circuits offer a meaningful alternative to ordinary sightseeing. They make it easier to explore Delhi’s diverse heritage with a local guide who can explain the background of each site and assist guests throughout the journey.
As a guide, I believe heritage tourism is not simply about visiting monuments and taking photographs. It is about understanding the stories behind the places—why a building was created, who used it, what traditions developed around it, how it has changed, and what it means to people today. These questions help visitors connect with Delhi on a deeper level, and the new circuits provide a meaningful framework for experiencing exactly that.
Explore Delhi with a Local Guide
If you would like to experience Delhi’s spiritual and heritage sites, I can organize a comfortable and informative guided tour for individuals, families and groups. Whether you are interested in history, architecture, religion, photography or local culture, these circuits provide a wonderful introduction to the many layers of Delhi.
